Finally heard Kendrick Lamars album. Let me start this off by saying I've never been a fan of Kendrick or Drake until this year.... Ok, too many people over hyped the album with phrases like "instant classics" like they never heard "The Chronic", "Illmatic", "The Downward Spiral", "Blue Print", "The White Album", "Stone Gone" or "Fear of a Black Planet".... However its good.. Still like drakes mixtape better... Kendrick's album reminds me of a mix between of 90's Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg meets Outkast Aquemini... Even has a song with George Clinton to further prove my point... Guess he was aiming for that and he didn't miss.. Lyrically he is clean especially on "Institutionalized" which furthers my point even more. The best song for me was "the blacker the berry" where he addresses all this "New Black" non-sense going around black social media and its spokes person Azelia Banks (the outspoken pro black pop artist that attacked his Rolling Stones interview meanwhile only dates white men). Anywho, hopefully I have lowered your expectations to make the album impact you how it didn't catch me on first listen. Thank you internet you ruin everything like how all the dummies on Instagram ruined the season finale of Empire with non funny memes and crappy cam videos (actually my cousin's meme was the only funny one). Final Verdict 4 out of 5 hope hiphop will grow more this year and rappers start thinking about bars and songs like Kendrick, Drake, and J.Cole did! Its worth the money.
