Arturia Microfreak - A Hiphop Producer Review

A video review of Arturia's Microfreak hardware synth by a hiphop music producer. The Microfreak is a paraphonic (4 voice) synth with over 6 different digital synth engines, analog filter, mod matrix, arp, LFO's, envelopes, and sequencer! Even if you're not into sound design. It comes with over 160 presets (and you can save your own presets too!). One thing I forgot to mention is the scale mode. Which allows you play melodies and chords with out any music theory! All this for $300? Yes, it's very affordable too. One thing that threw me off was the PCB keybed. It's not easy on the eye but after trying it. I'm now a fan of Arturia ambitious design. You can easy hook it up to your computer and use it with your DAW or additional hardware. All of this is possible thru USB, CV/gate, and 3.5mm to 5pin din (which the adapters are included like always). Only other con I can think of is the lack of effects. If you have effect pedals you can definitely make up for that. How do you feel about the Microfreak? Please leave a comment below!
